Thieves descend on Daventry - let us protect our community!

Let us work with our local Northamptonshire police force and protect our community!

A typical Monday, it started great for the Chelton Brown lettings office staff in Daventry but then it started to go slightly downhill towards the end of the day.

5 o'clock on Monday 20 February, two females and one male entered the Daventry office. One of the females and the male engaged Nadine Lindsay (Property Manager) and Andrea Butterworth (Lettings Manager) by asking for directions to Luton Airport in a foreign accent and demonstrated a need for pen and paper to 'explain'. The other female's location was noted by Andrea's desk looking at a property display.

Suddenly the three individuals said "thank you", held their thumbs up and left. Nadine, thinking it was strange, followed their progress by looking out the window whilst conversing about their odd behaviour. They promptly concluded it would be worth checking that their personal belongings were still there.

Upon searching, Andrea noticed that her work iPhone was gone; it had been in a makeup sized bag that is used for holding keys on property viewings.

Nadine had been following their progress and knew they were heading towards Moot Hall. Nadine shot out of the office with Andrea hot on her heels and by the time they caught up with them they were behind Fridays (a local bar) in the car park heading towards North Street. Nadine was first to them and held out her hand and demanded "Phone." They handed it over without fuss from a jacket and proceeded to leave.

Nadine and Andrea have given a full and detailed report to the police and are working closely to do everything to help apprehend them. Whilst conversing with the local police it seems that gangs like these come in to the area to hit a town and move on.

Clearly these three individuals entered the office with the intent to steal.

Let's protect our community and work together with our local police officers to prevent and identify opportunist thieves.

Remember if crime has just happened, call 999. Do not be afraid to call this number it is graded by the operator and dealt with appropriately.
