I Set up Chelton Brown in 1990 in the front room of my home with just one secretary. Within two months we had been so successful that we took premises in York Road and the business continued to grow. In 2000 we merged with Property Management Service (PMS) established in 1975 by Doug Young, which instantly doubled the size of the company. We re-located to George Row and with the town centre location; extra investment in staff and advertising, PMS Chelton Brown soon became Northampton’s leading letting agency.
My two partners decided to retire from the partnership in 2005, I reverted the name back to Chelton Brown and we became a Limited Company.
After a major acquisition in 2007 we opened our doors in Daventry and now lead the way in Daventry as well as Northampton. |

In 2009 we acquired one of our largest rivals in Northampton Scott Pinkham lettings with a portfolio of over 300 properties. With the expertise of the existing staff we opened a new department of Chelton Brown offering Housing Benefit Solutions. We work closely with the council and are homing over 20 families a month from the Northamptonshire list of people waiting for housing.
We now have over 30 staff and a dedicated training schedule ensuring all staff have the knowledge necessary to offer the most professional letting and property management service in the area.

I have been in the Property business for 24 years and first opened Chelton Brown in 1990. The business has seen many changes since then. I first joined the NAEA in 1985 and after showing due diligence became a fellow in 1990. I have been in ARLA since 1995 and was one of the first people to pass (with Distinction) the ARLA 2000 exam that was brought out in the year 2000 to show a legal understanding of the lettings industry. I ensure that the business is run following all the principles of the ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents).

I joined the Chelton Brown team in 2006, bringing 3 years of experience within the industry. I started off doing administration but soon moved to become a lettings negotiator. I spend most of my time out of the office on vieiwngs and valuations. I achieved my ARLA exam in March 2008 and I have currently achieved all 4 Units of the Technical Award August 2010!
