Chelton Brown Ltd - By Sali Brown Managing Director

I started Chelton Brown in 1990 in the front room of my home with one secretary.  Within two months we had been so successful that we took premises in York Road and the business continued to grow. In October 2000 I merged the business with Property Management Services (PMS) established in 1975 by Doug Young, which instantly doubled the size of the company.  We relocated to George Row and with the town centre location; extra investment in staff and advertising PMS Chelton Brown soon became Northampton’s leading letting agency.

My two partners Doug Young and Duncan Scott decided to retire from the partnership in 2005, I reverted the name back to Chelton Brown and we became a Limited Company. 

After a major acquisition in 2007 we opened our doors in Daventry and now lead the way in Daventry as well as Northampton.

In 2009 we acquired one of our largest rivals in Northampton, Scott Pinkham Lettings with a portfolio of over 300 managed properties.  We merged the 2 businesses and keeping the Scott Pinkham name opened a new department within our town centre premises.  In partnership with Northampton Borough Council, we now offer a new service to Landlords that are prepared to accept Housing Benefit.  For more information on this service, follow the link www.scottpinkham.com

We now have over 30 staff and a dedicated training schedule ensures all staff have the knowledge necessary to offer the most professional service in the area.

I started working at Chelton Brown in April 2009 after a 21 year career in the Financial Sector. The role of PA is a new role for me which allows me to use a lot of skills I have acquired over the years. I find the role both interesting and varied and the team here at Chelton Brown are great.

Andrea Butterworth - Business Development Manager
After 25 years working in the Transport Sector and taking time out to gain a first class degree in Law, I joined Chelton Brown in 2009 as temporary staff. I look forward to joining their strong team in 2010 when I have completed my Masters in Law course.

Sali Brown - Managing Director
I have been in the Property business for 24 years and first opened Chelton Brown in 1990. The business has seen many changes since then. I first joined the NAEA in 1985 and after showing due diligence became a fellow in 1990. I have been in ARLA since 1995 and was one of the first people to pass (with Distinction) the ARLA 2000 exam that was brought out in the year 2000 to show a legal understanding of the lettings industry. I ensure that the business is run following all the principles of the ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents).

Gill Wright - HR Director
I have over 30 years experience in the property industry which spans both the estate agency and lettings markets assisting both independent and corporate clients throughout the region. I also worked for ten years for one of the country’s largest relocation companies dealing with estate agents and properties over ten counties. My latter ten years have been spent in the local lettings market here in Northampton.

Robert Slater - Office Manager
I started work at Chelton Brown in 2007. I had worked in another letting agents in Northampton for a number of years. I take the properties to let on to our books and arrange the advertising and marketing of them. The job is very demanding and my targets are high, I enjoy the challenge and usually exceed my targets. The team are great to work with and the days shoot by.

Lettings Team

Joanne Maloney - Lettings Negotiator
I joined the Chelton Brown team in 2006, bringing 3 years of experience within the industry. I started off doing administration but soon moved to become a lettings negotiator. I spend most of my time out of the office on vieiwngs and valuations. I acheived my ARLA exam in March 2008 and I am currently working towards my Technical Award.

Julie Bryan - Lettings Negotiator
I joined in January 2009 with approximately 30 years experience in the property industry. Prior to this I worked for several corporate estate agents with Northampton involved in sales and also ran my own business for 5 years. I have enjoyed the transition into Lettings and was voted Employer of the Year for 2009.

Kerry Ouriach - Lettings Negotiator
I joined Chelton Brown in June 2008 from almost 20 years in estate agency in Northampton. Although having gained a lot of experience in the property industry, I have found there is lots to learn with regards to Lettings and Property Management. Laura Johnston - Part Time Lettings Team Member
I joined Chelton Brown in February 2009 working part time, which involves me working Saturdays and other days when required to cover holidays and sickness. Prior to this I worked within the Conveyancing sector for 9 years and also in the past I have worked for Developers and Estate Agents in the area. I am very much enjoying my time with Chelton Brown and I work with a great team. Donna Copp - Property Manager
I started working at Chelton Brown in October 2004 as a Lettings Administrator, became a Property Manager in 2006, then promoted to Supervisor in 2009. I am fully trained and ARLA Qualified. I have completed an NVQ in Customer Service Level 2 and Management Level 3.

Emma Sandall - Property Manager
Having previously worked in lettings in Market Harborough, I have been working for Chelton Brown since August 2005 and in December 2005 I passed my ARLA examinations. As a property manager I have a wide and varied role within the Property Management Team and on a day to day basis I manage a portfolio of properties on behalf of our clients.

Fiona Potter - Gas & Safety
I started working for Chelton Brown in 2004 on Client Accounts. I then moved on to property management prior to going on maternity leave in 2005. I came back in January 2008 and am now responsible for arranging of Gas and Electrical safety certificates. The company has seen a lot of changes since I worked here previously but the team is as efficient and friendly as ever.

Tracey Sample - Property Manager
I started work in 1996 with Property Management Services and was part of the merger of PMS Chelton Brown who then became Chelton Brown. I have enjoyed trying numerous different tasks throughout the years and have now become a Property Manager, managing over 200 properties within the Chelton Brown portfolio, this is, at times challenging but rewarding. Gemma Ede - Administrator
I was working for Campbells when Chelton Brown took over. Within my job I get involved with all aspects of Letting and Property Management. I do the referencing, tenancy agreements, type inventories and do all the general correspondence. Hayley Davies - Lettings Negotiator
I started working for Chelton Brown in Daventry in January 2008 as a weekend negotiator. Previously I worked within a Private Banking environment for 16 years. I am lucky enough to have been with Chelton Brown almost since the start of their opening in Daventry. Since then we moved premises and have made a real mark for ourselves locally. Christian Halls - Client Account Controller
I started working at Chelton Brown at the beginning of 2007. I have always worked within an accounts department, since achieving a BA (Hons) Business Administration degree in 1998. Running a client accounts system is very different to the work I have done before, but my insistence on accuracy and attention to detail is an attribute essential for my role. I enjoy the work environment here, which is busy and rewarding.

Edwina Lane - Client Account Manager
I started working for Chelton Brown in March 2009. I have always worked in an accounting environment and have had many years experience in this field. Anne Crilly - Manager - Choice Based Lettings
I joined the Chelton Brown team in 2009 after the acquisition of Scott Pinkham letting, bring 7 years of experience and have been involved in all aspects of the Letting Industry. I have worked closely with Northampton Borough Council for many years and have managed various Housing Schemes very successfully. I now manage a new project called Choice Based Lettings along with a happy dedicated team. The wealth of knowledge I have gained over the years is second to none.

Anita Howson - Lettings Administrator
I have worked for Chelton Brown since 2003. My job involves looking after the tenants once they have chosen a property, doing their references and making sure the property is ready for them. I get involved with all the procedures in the letting office and enjoy using all the knowledge I have learnt both in house and on ARLA courses, when I help with the training of new staff.
