At Chelton Brown, it’s not all about renting out properties; we genuinely feel that we are an integral part of the Northamptonshire community. Just like our friends and family sometimes need help our community sometimes needs our help too.
Charity work is one of the ways we can do our part within our community. In previous years we have supported Macmillan Cancer and although it is a great cause, there are also many other great causes that we have found it is hard to limit it to one.
We have therefore decided that in 2012, we are to support our staff who participate in events for their chosen charity and will continue to support Macmillan Cancer support with proceeds from our internal social activities such as our pub quiz.
One of our long standing staff members whom regularly runs for charities across Northamptonshire entered the Virgin London Marathon 2012 on 22/04/2012.
Before the event, Lisa Russell, Accounts Administrator said; “My Bucket list contains experiencing the London Marathon. Being me, I could not just do this half-heartedly and I have been training hard and could potentially get a time around 3hrs 30mins (obviously dependent on how many people get in my way!)”
Lisa’s chosen charity is Rethink which is a Mental Illness charity that she feels that this is an area of life which affects so many and it is still largely misunderstood.
Lisa Russell was aiming for a time of around 3hours and 30 mins and she done it in…3 hours, 40mins and 6 seconds which is FANTASTIC!
After the event, Lisa said; “It was an amazing experience; I was grinning virtually all the way round, the atmosphere was overwhelming. The support from friends, family and colleagues has been immense and I have risen in the region of £500 with more donations still coming in.”
All of us at Chelton Brown are extremely proud of Lisa and her achievement.
In 2010 and 2011 we supported the Walk in the Park event hosted at Althorp estate by Macmillan Cancer Support. We feel that this is a worthy cause as Macmillan improves the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. Their impressive ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer.
The 2012 Walk in the Park event was a three or a six mile walk around Althorp Estate on Sunday 8 May. All the money raised from the walk will go towards supporting the £1.55 million appeal in Northamptonshire to build the new Macmillan Haematology Suite, to treat individuals with cancers of the blood, at Northampton General Hospital.
Sali Brown, Chelton Brown, M.D. said: “The day was fantastic and the Chelton Brown staff was there right on the finish line so that we could congratulate the walkers and give them their goody bags.
The start of the walk was fantastic, I was right up the front with cheering when Bruce Reihanna from Saints Rugby Club opened the walk by cutting the starting line ribbon. The walk itself had a great atmosphere.
It had a real community feel as we walked through the stunning grounds at Althorp, everyone was smiling and happy to be there and talking with people they have never met.”
Chelton Brown is pleased to be helping this remarkable charity.
